"Setting time aside to take care of yourself is not being selfish. It is honoring yourself." Nyambura Mwangi
Hi everyone.. this quote above has been one of my favorites ever since I first saw it. Our lives cannot flow in love and abundance if we don't honor ourselves.
Most of us carry some sort of inner struggle when it comes to self love and honoring our own personal space, lives, and soul. We can tend to feel it's being selfish.
Women, especially, can have a tendency to put themselves last--after our family, husband, work, kids, or home. Doing so can deplete our energy, weaken our immune system, and make us vulnerable for negative energy to invade our space. We then can spiral downward very quickly if we don't take the time to honor ourselves. Without self-care, the balance of giving and receiving can go completely off-center by not honoring ourselves on a regular basis.
But when we actually take time for our own healing, nurturing, and self-care, we have so much more to offer those around us! Here are a few simple things we can do to nurture our lives:
☯ Get a massage. If budget is an issue, many massage and spa salons offer less expensive 30-minute sessions that can be extremely effective!
☯ A little pampering--such as a manicure or new haircut--can renew and energize us!
☯ Take a break and spend even a few minutes to be in nature. A 15 minute walk in the closest park will do wonders for you, as well as an hour hike in the woods. Whatever your preference for nature is--whether it's the beach, the mountains, the desert, the woods, or even your back yard--it is very grounding and balancing to just sit and soak in the wonder of it.
☯ Spend some quality time with a good, supportive friend. This can help shift your energy and perspective on your life when you connect and get feedback from a person you trust.
☯ Reading a book or journaling are both very grounding and very insightful.
☯ Doing a hobby you love can stimulate your creative right brain, and bring more balance into your life.
☯ Prayer and meditation-connecting with source is healing, balancing, insightful, and therapeutic. Take time each day to be quiet and listen.
